You must do Spiritual Warfare for your unsaved loved ones, Unbelievers

You must do Spiritual Warfare for your unsaved loved ones, Unbelievers

You must do spiritual warfare on behalf of the unbelievers, unsaved loved ones in your family or those that you care about,

Paul says:"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ" 2 Cor.4:4 And John tells us that "the whole world is under the control of the evil one." 1 John 5:19. In his wrath against God, Satan satiates his anger by dragging to hell as many souls as he can grab. In a real sense the lost are held hostage to the blinding and binding influence of the evil one. In the parable of the seed and sower. Jesus depicts the demons who rob peopleof the ability to understand the truth as the "birds of the air" that steal the seed. Hostages do not set themselves free.

A rescue is required.

In our burden for the lost, we must understand a vital truth spoken by Jesus: "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." JOHN 3:19

Each man and woman makes a choice to seek light or to serve self.

Apart from the movement of the individual will to seek the grace of God,

our prayers cannot and will not wrench someone free from the grip of sin and the power of Satan.

But we may still pray in conformity to God's will, who "wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth" 1 Tim 2:4. Peter tells us that he is "not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" 2 Peter 3:9. Doctrinal issues of election and free will aside, We must pray in confidence for the salvation of our family members, loved ones and each person God brings across our path. This is God's heart and it must be ours as well.

Petition the Lord God for opportunities to share the Word with those for whom we are praying. Then wait, watch and follow the Holy Spirits promptings, always being "prepared to give an answer" 1 Peter 3:15 to a seeking soul.

The following petition can be prayed as a focused prayer on behalf of the unsaved and the lost.

Prayer for the conversion of Unbelievers and the lost

Prayer for unsaved loved ones

Why are so many people still unsaved? Second Corinthians 4:4 tells us it is because “the god of this world [the devil] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Once you realize it’s the devil (not your loved one) who’s the real problem, your first prayer step becomes clear. You must get the devil out of your loved one’s way. As Jesus said, “How can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?” (Matthew 12:29). You can’t! So bind him.

Now, you may not be able to cast that devil entirely out of the situation, because your loved one may invite him back in faster than you can cast him out. But you can bind that spirit and keep it bound. It may keep you busy for a while, but you can do it.

Verbal (say out loud) Confession of Faith in God’s help to save loved one:

  • God is not willing that this person (name the person) perish, but that he or she comes to repentance – 2 Peter 3:9.
  • It is God’s will that he or she (name the person) be saved and comes to a knowledge of truth – 1 Timothy 2:4.
  • This is the confidence that I have in Him, that if I ask anything according to His will, He hears me. And I know that if He hears me, whatever I ask, I know that I have the petitions that I have asked of Him. I ask for him or her (name the person) to be saved, to come to repentance, and to come to a knowledge of the truth that can set him or her free – 1 John 5:14,15.
  • If it is a relative: I believe that I and all of my household will be saved – Acts 16:31.
  • I realize that I am not in a battle with flesh and blood, but I am contending against demonic powers, wicked spirits in the heavenly sphere, who are trying to influence and control the person I am praying for – Ephesians 6:12. Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “I give you authority and power over all the power of the enemy” and so nothing shall in any way harm me.
  • Whatever I bind on earth is bound in the heavenly realm, and whatever I loose on earth is loosed in the heavenly realm – Matthew 18:18.

Binding prayer (2 Corinthians 4:3,4):

Say, “Right now I bind the god of this world (Satan) who has blinded their eyes to the truth of the gospel, and I loose the light of the gospel to shine on them and open their eyes. You spirit operating in the life of my loved one, blinding __(name)___ to the gospel to keep __(name)____ out of the kingdom of God, I bind you now. I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. I carry His authority and righteousness and in His Name, I command you to desist in your maneuvers. I spoil your house according to the Word of God and I enter into it to deliver my loved one from your hands.”

  • I pray that the eyes of their understanding would be opened to know the hope of their calling – Ephesians 1:18.
  • Lord, open their eyes to know You; open their understanding that they can understand the scriptures – Luke 24:31,45.
  • I pray for laborers to be sent into their path from the Lord of the harvest – Matthew 9:37,38.
  • I believe that I receive the answers to these scriptural prayers – Mark 11:24.
  • Lord, You watch over Your Word to perform it – Jeremiah 1:12.
  • Thank You that Your Word does not return to You void, but it accomplishes what You intend for it to do – Isaiah 55:11.

I ask all this, Father God, in the holy name of Jesus. And I cover myself, my household, all my family, extended family, and all loved ones with the blood of Jesus, asking you to bless and strengthen us with your wisdom, Holy Spirit, salvation, and deliverance. Amen.

Asking Specifically

Asking Specifically

by Katherine Kehler

For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him. And then helping you do what He wants” (Philippians 2:13)

The day I found this promise in the Bible I was very excited. I was beginning to understand that I didn’t have to change myself. God would change me and this verse confirmed it. He would even help me want to change. Being a determined person, I could be a problem if Christ wasn’t in control of my life, but God would work in me to change me. What freedom that spiritual principle brought to my life.

The Holy Spirit was beginning to convict me about being grumpy in the morning. For years I had rationalized that I was just born that way. I had inherited this temperament from my father and grandmother. I wasn’t a morning person. I didn’t want to speak to anyone until after 10:00 am and preferred that no one spoke to me.

The Holy Spirit showed me that His power was not limited to after 10:00 in the morning, and that I was having a negative influence on our four school-aged children and Marvin every morning. So I claimed the promise in Philippians 2:23 and prayed something like this,

“God you are the God of flesh. All things are possible with You. Please change me into a cheerful person in the morning.”

Within three months, my husband Marvin noticed the difference in me. He said,

“I sure appreciate your being cheerful in the morning.”

I realized that praying specifically really works.

I still don’t bounce out of bed in the morning like my husband does. I like to wake up slowly. But when I begin to wake up, before I get out of bed, I focus on the Lord and ask Him to control and direct my life. What a difference praying specifically has made in my life.

Father, thank You for giving us Your Word and the Holy Spirit who opens our mind to understand it and empowers us to change. Help us to remember to ask specifically. Amen

Living Sacrifice - Dying to Self

Living Sacrifice - A Biblical Truth
As Christians, we're called to give ourselves to God as a "living sacrifice." The Apostle Paul helps us understand this truth in his letter to the believers in Rome:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

Living Sacrifice - Dying to Self
So, how do we truly present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice? In a nutshell, we must die to our prior selves. This concept is wonderfully presented in this anonymous poem…

When you are forgotten, neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don't sting or hurt with the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ;

    That is dying to self.
When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence;
    That is dying to self.
When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any annoyance; when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus did;
    That is dying to self.
When you are content with any food, and offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God;
    That is dying to self.
When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or record your own good works or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown;
    That is dying to self.
When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met, and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and you are in desperate circumstances;
    That is dying to self.
When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit, inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart;
    That is dying to self.

How to have a "Quiet Time"

How to have a "Quiet Time"

Author Unknown

What is a“Quiet Time”?

A “Quiet Time” is a daily personal appointment with God, during which we get away from distractions and meet with God through prayer and Bible study. Through these disciplines God talks to us and we talk to God.

Why is Connecting Daily with God through a Quiet Time so Important?

  1. It reminds us that we belong to God.
Jesus said, “I choose you!” (John 15:16)

  2. It creates room for God in our busy lives.
“Be still and know that I the LORD, and wait patiently for him.”
    (Psalm 37:7)

  3. It builds our relationship with God through regular communication.
“Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent
    .” (John 17:3)

  4. It helps give direction to our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
    (Psalm 119: 105)

  5. It enables to live deep and fulfilling lives.
My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28)

I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

What are some Practical Steps to do a Quiet Time?

  1. Set some time aside during a day, or every day. Start with about 15 minutes and you work up to 30 minutes and more for each day.

  2. Pick a place that you want to go to be alone:

    • It doesn’t matter where you go (a lake, bedroom, roof, park, etc.). The important thing is that you get rid of all distractions. Get away from people, phones, the internet, computers, anything that would detour your thoughts from God.

  3. Get your Materials Together

    • A Bible in a modern version (NIV, NASB, NRSV)

    • A notebook and pen

    • A songbook, favorite worship tape/CDs & player

    • A reading plan such as Search the Scriptures (Inter-Varsity Press)

  4. Follow a Simple Plan
    • Relax, Be Quiet before God – ask God to settle your mind and heart and then to become present with you! It is difficult to set aside all the voices in our lives that compete for our attention. Here are some practical activities to help you.

      • Bring a pad of paper, and ask God to quickly bring to mind the important tasks that need to be accomplished that day. Write them down and set the pad of paper aside. This practice will allow you to release these concerns knowing that you will return to them later.

      • Turn your mind toward God. Think about who he is, what he has done, and your relationship with him. This intentional focusing on God begins your quiet time.

    • Worship-

      • Praise – for who God is.

      • Thanksgiving – for what God has done.

      • Adoration – express to God your love for Him

      • Listen and/or sing a worship song or two to God.
    • Bible – Read a section (eg. 6-12 verses), asking God to speak to you through the Word.

      • Read slowly, repeatedly, aloud, asking yourself the following questions:
      • For what specifically can I offer praise to God (Father/Jesus/the Holy Spirit)?
What do I see about what God has done for which I can thank Him?
Is there any example for me to follow?
Is there any command for me to obey?
Is there any sin or error for me to forsake?
Is there any promise for me to claim?

      • Write down in your notebook anything you observe and learn from God in the passage.

    • Pray – Talk to God

      • About anything you’ve just read in the Bible.

      • About your requests for others (family, loved ones, Christian friends, non-Christian friends, family and colleagues, our church, government, missions).

      • About what you need (confession and forgiveness of sin, Christlikeness, daily filling of His Holy Spirit, work, finances, family, relationships, witness).

These are just some guidelines, and not a strict formula you have to follow to get something out of your quiet times. You can start with this model and move on to tweak it to mold into a model that is the most beneficial for you.

Prayer Journey

Prayer Journey

by Katherine Kehler

Have you ever taken the time to evaluate your journey with God? Are you growing in your love relationship with Him? You may be thinking, “Can you really know if you are growing spiritually?”

Yes, there are ways you can evaluate your spiritual growth. One way is to think through your prayer journey. Are you praying more? Because prayer is talking with God, ask yourself if your communication with Him is getting better.

I encourage you to take the time to think through your prayer journey. The following are some of the elements in my prayer journey that show me if I am growing spiritually:

Trust in His Promises
Am I trusting God and His promises more that I did twelve months ago?

Up to this time, you have not asked a single thing in my name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full” (John 16:25).

Ask Specifically
Am I asking for specific things, or do I pray generally? You will recognize when your prayers are answered if you ask specifically.

“For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him. And then helping you do what He wants” (Philippians 2:13).

Intercession
Am I praying for others on a regular basis?

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone” (1Timothy 2:1).

Cultivate a Quiet Heart
Do I have a quiet heart? Panic and peace cannot occupy the same place.

“When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble?” (Job 34:29).

Resting, Trusting, Leaning
Do I trust and rest in God, or do I let circumstances determined my feelings?

“But I have stilled and quieted my soul...” (Psalm 131:2).

Thankfulness, Praise and Worship

A single grateful thought toward heaven is the most complete prayer.” - Gotthold Lessing

Spiritual Warfare
Do you dress yourself with the armor of God each day?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 5:12).

Pray Without Ceasing
Talk to God about everything.

Pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

The real reason for prayer is intimacy with our Father.” - Oswald Chambers

Father, we know You want to have a close, growing relationship with us. Lord, we also want to know You more. Deep within our souls we want to know You. Amen.

Your prayers make a BIG difference in the lives of those who don’t know Jesus

Salvation : Foundational Teachings

Your prayers make a BIG difference in the lives of those who don’t know Jesus. If you have family or friends who haven’t made Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives, now’s the time to start praying for their salvation! Below, discover how to effectively pray for those around you—your parents, children, siblings or anyone else you love.

How to Pray for an Unsaved Loved One

People often get discouraged when praying for the salvation of loved ones and begin to wonder if their prayers ever really help. Well, guess what? Yes! Your prayers can be a powerful force in the lives of your unsaved relatives and friends if you know how to pray for them according to the wisdom and Word of God.

The problem is that most Christians don’t know how to pray with skill. They just throw prayers in every direction and hope something comes of it. That’s especially true when it comes to praying for the lost. It’s not uncommon to see believers praying for friends or loved ones to get saved for 20, 30 or even 40 years without results.

What exactly are these people praying? It usually boils down to something like this: “Oh, God, please save my brother. He needs to be saved.” (Don’t you think God knows he needs saving?) Then they might go a step further and start rehearsing their brother’s sins: “Lord, he got drunk again last night and we had to bail him out of jail again. If You don’t save him, he’s going to drive us all crazy!”

That may sound funny—the example is a little extreme to make a point—but many of us have prayed prayers that sounded something like that.

What we haven’t understood is this: There’s nothing wrong with your unsaved loved one (or any other unsaved person) except the devil. No human being who truly understood the salvation Jesus has offered to us would reject that salvation of his own free will. No one!

Why, then, are so many people sill unsaved? Second Corinthians 4:4 tells us it is because “the god of this world [the devil] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

Say, “You spirit operating in the life of my loved one, blinding ________ to the gospel to keep ________ out of the kingdom of God, I bind you now. I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. I carry His authority and righteousness, and in His Name I command you to desist in your maneuvers. I spoil your house according to the Word of God and I enter into it to deliver my loved one from your hands.

Now, you may not be able to cast that devil entirely out of the situation, because your loved one may invite him back in faster than you can cast him out. But you can bind that spirit and keep it bound. It may keep you busy for a while, but you can do it.

You’ll find your next prayer step in Matthew 9:37-38. There, Jesus was looking out at the multitudes who needed ministry and He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

It’s the Word of God that brings faith for salvation: “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). So you need to see to it that the Word gets into your loved one’s heart.

“How?” you say, “My loved one won’t listen to me!”

Probably not, but God knows who your loved one will listen to, and He’ll send that person halfway around the world to talk to your loved one if necessary.

So pray to the Lord of the harvest: “Father, I’m asking You to send laborers across ________’s path, laborers who are equipped with the Word of God about salvation, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, healing and deliverance. Send laborers who can communicate effectively with ________ so Your Word can reach his/her heart.

Once you’ve prayed for your loved one like that, from then on, put your faith in action by treating your loved one like he’s/she’s saved. Don’t treat your loved one like he’s/she’s not good. On the contrary, every time you see your loved one, say, “Praise God! Isn’t it good to know Jesus?” Then just stand back and watch how things change. You’ll be amazed.

It’s happened many times. And it can happen that way for you and your loved one. So don’t give up. Get smart! Start praying according to the Word and praying by faith…and you will see the salvation of the Lord!

Here is a sample prayer for your unsaved loved ones. As you speak God’s Word, remember that it will not return to Him void. It will prosper in the thing whereto it is sent (Isaiah 55:11):

Father, I come before You in prayer and in faith, believing. Your Word says You desire all men to be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth, so I bring ________ before You this day.

“I break the power of Satan from his assignments and activities in ________’s life in the Name of Jesus. Now, while Satan is bound, I ask that You send forth the perfect laborers to share the good news of the gospel in such a way that ________ will listen and understand it. As the truth is ministered, I believe ________ will open his/her eyes to the gospel, come out of the snare of the devil and make Jesus Lord.

“Father, I ask that You fill ________ with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. As I intercede in his/her behalf, I believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is activated, and from this moment on, I shall praise and thank You for ________’s salvation. I am confident that You are alert and active, watching over Your Word to perform it. It will not return to You void. It will accomplish that which You please and prosper in the thing whereto it was sent.

“Therefore, my confession of faith is: ‘God has begun a good work in ________’s life and He will perform it and bring it to full completion until the day of Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ Name.’”
